The home was
built by Commodore Charles Bristed Rockwell.
 |
Mr. Rockwell
was a commanding figure in the area, an engineer by training and a businessman
in manufacturing. He spent two years designing a state of the art home
for his family, and another two years building Point Pleasant, completing
their home in 1940. |
Point Pleasant
was formerly the mooring for the famous racing yacht; the Belisarius built
in 1935 by Nathaniel Greene Herreshoff, and the last yacht he designed. The
Belisarius is now on display at the Herreshoff Museum in Bristol.
